Hi, I'm Charlie. I'm an illustrator who draws characters, portraits, creatures, landscapes, and whatever else enchants me day to day. I got my start as an artist as most people do, drawing and recreating what captured me as a child (mostly dinosaurs). I scribbled in both my sketchbook and margins of my schoolwork, and drew a number of multi-page comics I might've later coloured with marker or pencil crayon. Eventually I started to learn how to improve, and my passion turned into a lifestyle, and then into a career.
My adolescence was spent slowly building up my skills, and with the introduction of a drawing tablet I went from a hobbyist to something of a digital painter in only a few years. Though most of my abilities were self-taught, I was seeing visible improvement every time I mastered a new skill or tool. I became interested in applying to a post-secondary program to learn what I could not teach myself, and after taking a preliminary program to build a portfolio, I ended up graduating from Seneca College in 2022 with a diploma in Illustration.
All my illustrations I draw with my heart on my sleeve. I paint what I am interested in, usually consisting of unique looking characters or lush, vibrant landscapes. While my drawing style stays fairly cohesive from piece to piece, my color pallets vary drastically as the mood and story changes each time. My paintings aim to feel familiar or surreal, and are often paired with an overgrown, otherworldly, or dream-like motif. I use a combination of Photoshop and Procreate to create my work.
